Pastor: Rev. Kevin W. Martin
Pastor Kevin Martin has served six Lutheran congregations, beginning in 1986 as a field-worker in Trumbull, Connecticut, and vicarages in Arlington, Massachusetts and Belleville, Illinois. He has been pastor of congregations in Pembroke, Ontario and Akron, Ohio. Since 2000, he has served as pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Raleigh. Pastor Martin is a lifelong (confessional!) Lutheran (even though) he holds degrees from Valparaiso, Yale, and Concordia Seminary St. Louis. He and his wife Bonnie have been (happily) married since 1988, and have two (awesome!) adult children, Bethany and Christopher. Bonnie is an elementary school teacher. The Martin family enjoy music festivals, travel, golf, and swimming. They are also avid readers and movie-goers.
Vicar: Philip Bartelt
Philip Bartelt is currently working to attain a master’s in Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University, Irvine where he studied Theology, Philosophy, and Biblical Languages. He is devoted to the historic liturgy and subscribes to the Lutheran Confessions including the Formula of Concord articles V and VI. He is married to Jaclyn and father to Anastasia. Together they enjoy movies, books, theatre, and art.
Office Administrator: Maureen Costello
Maureen Costello is the Office Administrator and is responsible for the day to day activities in the Church Office. She is a graduate of North Carolina State University. Maureen is the Church Historian and with her family has been a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church since 1975.
Music Director / Organist: Russell Wilcox
Russell Wilcox graduated from Centenery College of Louisiana in 1975 as an organ major, where he studied with William C. Teague. He held his first church organist position at age 16. Prior to becoming a Lutheran at Our Savior, Raleigh, he was Organist-Choir Master at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Smithfield, NC from 1990 through 2010. Prior to that, he was Organist for The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) in Raleigh from 1985 until 1990. A native of Texas, Russell served churches in the Houston and Galveston area from 1975 until moving to Raleigh in 1984. Russell’s other career is Church Business Administrator. He served Christ Episcopal Church, Raleigh from 1987 until 1999, and Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, Raleigh, from 1999 until the present. Russell earned a fellowship in the National Association of Church Business Administration in 2005.
Handbell Director / Organist: Noel Hamm
Noel has a major in organ performance from Meredith College and became an organist at OSLC in January 2005 after many years as a substitute organist both here and at many area churches. She serves as historian for the Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Noel is also a registered nurse with a BSN and certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) and is employed at Wake Med in the vascular and neuro surgical area.
